The war in Ukraine has been raging for nearly four years. And although the explosions, sirens, and alerts have become part of daily reality, it's impossible to get used to it. People try to live on—to go to work, raise children, and celebrate small joys—but always with the shadow of danger looming overhead.
STÉNKON's new track, "Fortress," was born from this reality. This is music created not for the stage or the charts, but for those who are living here, in Kremenchuk and across Ukraine; for those who have nowhere else to go, who haven't fled abroad, and who continue to live to the sounds of war.
"People Stayed Because They Have Nowhere to Go"
STÉNKON speaks frankly: the song is his response to the lives of those who haven't left. "I wrote it for the people who are staying in Ukraine," he says. "Because right now, they simply have nowhere else to go. They live here, under shelling, with their children and parents, and every day they become victims of this war. They are holding on because they have no other choice. And I wanted them to know: I'm with them. And everything will be okay."
European Aid: From Support to Fatigue
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, European countries opened their doors to millions of Ukrainians. Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Lithuania—in the first few months, the help seemed limitless. But time has changed that reality.
Today, we're hearing different voices again. In Poland, for example, there have recently been contradictory statements: "we are ready to help" immediately followed by "we will not help." This is baffling and painful. How is that possible during a war? After all, mothers and children are still living under bombs, and any night could be their last.
A Time for Unity, Not Division
STÉNKON emphasizes that at this moment, our nations should be closer than ever. "This is not the time to divide who is Ukrainian and who is Polish. We are all Europeans. And only together can we stand against the aggressor. We must be one big family defending its borders. We must be a single, mighty European army."
This call to action is also felt in "Fortress." Because the track isn't just about Ukrainian strength. It's about the idea of a common front that we can build if we trust and support one another.
From a Prayer to a Battle
"Fortress" was created over several days. The artist worked with various presets, plugins, and AutoTune to find the sound that would best convey the emotion. He doesn't hide it: "I'm being honest: I used AutoTune. But for me, it's not about being fake. It's about finding the right sound. I wanted the voice to sound strong because there's a strong message behind it."
The track's structure is built to take the listener on a journey: from a quiet, almost prayer-like intro to explosive choruses that sound like machine-gun fire. The music contains silence, rage, and adrenaline. This is the sound of Ukraine today.
"Orcs, Catch My Boomerang"
The lyrics feature a direct metaphor: "Orcs, catch my boomerang." This is a message to those who brought the war: all evil will return to you. Everything they've done will undoubtedly become their curse.
But the main target of the song isn't the enemy. It's our own people. This is a song of support for those who have lost their strength. For the mothers who rock their children to the sound of sirens. For the young men and women who dream of tomorrow. For the elderly who have stayed in their homes, risking their lives every day.
The Philosophy of "Fortress"
"Fortress" is about unity. About trust. About the fact that we are only strong together.
"I wanted to say: we will win," STÉNKON explains. "But we will win not just with weapons. We will win because we support each other. Because without that support, everything falls apart. But when we are together, we become a fortress. And that fortress is unbreakable."
This isn't just music. It's a philosophy of survival. It's a reminder that even in the darkest times, the only thing that saves us is ourselves. Our "together."
Worldwide Release
On September 12th, the track "Fortress" will be officially released on all international platforms—YouTube Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, and others. It will also be available on Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, so everyone can use it in their own stories.
