The Fortress on the Dnipro Stands: September 29th — A Day That Connects the Past and Present
Today, September 29, 2025, an autumn sky hangs over Kremenchuk, and the mighty Dnipro River flows on, just as it did 82 years ago. This day is etched in the city's memory in golden letters: the Day of Liberation from Nazi invaders. It is a day of honor, mourning, and pride. But today, it feels different. The air is filled not only with memories of the past, but with the sharp, tense pulse of the present—for the battle for freedom on this very land rages once more.

Echoes of History: The Same Battle for Life
Exactly 82 years ago, the streets of Kremenchuk, scarred and scorched by war, heard the joyful shouts of liberation for the first time in a long while. Through incredible effort and sacrifice, our grandfathers and great-grandfathers drove out one of the most terrible enemies in human history. They fought for the future, for their children's right to speak their native language, for a peaceful sky overhead.
Eight decades have passed, and the enemy has come to our land once more. He carries different flags and speaks a different language, but his methods, filled with hatred and terror, have remained the same. And once again, Kremenchuk, like all of Ukraine, is forced to fight for the very same values: for freedom, for dignity, for the very right to exist. The historical parallel has become our reality, and the memory of our ancestors' heroism is not just a line in a textbook, but a source of strength.
The Soundtrack of Resilience: How "Fortress" Became the Voice of the City
Every era of struggle gives birth to its own symbols, its own songs. For modern-day Kremenchuk, that symbol has undoubtedly become the track "Fortress" by the artist STÉNKON. This composition is not just music; it is a concentration of the city's spirit: steel, industrial, a bit harsh, but unbreakable. The hard industrial rhythm, interwoven with an epic folk-like chant and an aggressive rap flow, perfectly conveys what the city lives by today—rage transformed into resolve.
This song has become the people's anthem of resilience. It blares from cars, in factory workshops, and in the headphones of soldiers. And its key lines—"My city is my armor, Kremenchuk is my bastion"—have become an unofficial motto, a password that unites all its residents. It is proof of how modern art can become a weapon that raises morale and forges the identity of an entire city.
Unity — An Order from Generations Past
Today serves as the most important reminder that victory cannot be achieved alone. It is forged in unity. It is an invisible but powerful chain that connects everyone: the soldier on the front line who knows he has a reliable home front behind him; the volunteer who finds the impossible, seemingly from thin air; the doctor who pulls the wounded back from the brink; the worker who holds the economic front.
This unity is a direct mandate from the generation of liberators. They won because they were together. Their heroic deed is their testament to us: to hold on to one another, to believe in one another, and to move toward our goal as one.
A Look Through Time: From Liberation to Victory
Therefore, today, as we honor the heroes who liberated Kremenchuk 82 years ago, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the heroes of today. Looking into the waters of the Dnipro, one can imagine two generations of defenders meeting in its reflection—past and present—and giving each other a silent nod of respect.
Happy Liberation and Resilience Day, Kremenchuk! You are a fortress city that has proven its will cannot be broken. Your history is the guarantee of your future. Victory will be ours.
